Safety first!

Our containers are in use around the globe, and this often goes hand-in-hand with increased safety requirements. Particularly in crisis regions, personnel is often exposed to lethal threats. Even though the container walls are made of steel, they hardly provide adequate protection against the impact of projectiles from common handguns. However, we have designed solutions for this threat scenario in multiple cases! Specially hardened ballistic steel, for example, provides protection against direct fire from handguns.

As part of one of our current projects, we designed a protected container with a special wall structure. In order to ensure the required safety in accordance with NATO guidelines, a ballistics laboratory was commissioned to perform material tests with individual sample walls before we began building the container. These sample walls were fired upon using four different types of ammunition. In keeping with our expectations, none of these projectiles was able to break through our wall structure. The photographs show the sample walls before and after the material tests. The inadequate safety provided by the structural steel on the exterior of the container is clearly visible. All projectiles easily penetrated this 4-mm sheet steel. By contrast, the completely undamaged chipboard panels on the interior are proof of the excellent protection provided by our wall structure.
